All our courses follow the guidelines as laid down by AGB and our Club Coaches are qualified by AGB. From time to time, junior assistant coaches, trainee Level 1 / Session coaches and unqualified experienced archers may be involved in coaching and teaching.
Beginners lessons take place during the indoor season (October-March) on a Sunday morning. For the rest of the year the lessons are held at our Outdoor venue on various days. Our lessons are open to aged from 10 and upwards and all physical abilities. Our course comprises two online lessons and five hands-on lessons.
All the necessary safety and shooting equipment needed for the course is provided for you for the course. We also have a bow hiring scheme for people to have access to equipment after completing our course in order to reduce the costs associated with starting a new sport.
There is almost always a waiting list for our lessons. Please contact us to be added to the list.
The current cost of the course is £60 but it must be noted that during indoor course, beginners must also be members of Boldon Community Centre (as of October 2021 £8 for seniors, £5 for juniors and OAPs).
All coaching of beginners MUST be arranged through, and formally sanctioned by, the Club’s committee for insurance purposes.
On the important issue of Child Protection, both the Archers and the Parent/Guardians of young archers are reminded that under no circumstances are under-18s allowed to shoot without supervision:
for under 16, either a parent/guardian who is a senior shooting member, or a non-shooting parent/guardian PLUS a senior shooting member.
For 16&17, either a parent/guardian who is a senior shooting member, or two senior shooting members.
NOTE: The Senior Shooting Member(s) mentioned above are those willing to take supervisory responsibility on request.
“guardian” in this context only a legal guardian or a close or extended adult family member.
